While speaking to Fightful's Corey Brennan in a recent interview, EVE's owner Dann Read explained the concept behind the match.

"So, throw all your rules about what wrestling should and could and shouldn't be and couldn't be, completely out the window. What you are left with is just a blank canvas of anything, and that is what the Multiverse Rumble is, the opportunity for wrestlers to be as creative as they want to be. They can enter... when you think of the multiverse, you think of Marvel. There's all these different timelines and everything. That's what it can be. In another universe, Kasey Owens is Kevin Owens, you know, or Kevin Owens is Kasey Owens, you know, so they've both got the KOs, just little things like that. At the same time, it can be Nightshade on the last show was the lampshade from the, intro to the Disney Pixar films. You could be anything you want to be. The great thing about that is you can have fun, but it also gives you an opportunity to think not as you, but what would the character do? It's another opportunity where you're learning, but also the restraints are off. I think one of the big issues that wrestling has, and I think this is the reason why we end up with tribalism, so much with fans is because everyone is thinking of wrestling almost like an algorithm. They think this is how we do it. This is, these are the rules. I dislike that. I dislike the whole idea of like, these are the rules. At one point, there were rules with regards to music and then someone broke down those barriers and new forms of music were created and and there was an audience for all of these new things. I just think, imagine if we had the, the same mentality. The idea that there are rules as to what wrestling is and shouldn't be. That's because people like to have definitive answers on things. Sometimes creative and open-ended questions frighten some people. That's why people end up in arguments, because they think they've got some tangible proof. This is my proof that I am right. They like to be right, of course. The idea of breaking all those i say to all the talent as well, I want you to try new things on you. I don't want you to feel like you have to be this and you have to be at your best and you have to do this kind of match. I want you to know that either is the place where you can go and try something. If it doesn't work, it's OK because you tried something new and I love that."

Elsewhere in the same interview, Read announced multiple names for Pro Wrestling Eve: Women Behaving Badly next month. You can read more about that here.
