David Finlay is great at recruiting.
Throughout 2024, Gabe Kidd has continued to climb the ranks of wrestling world, establishing himself as a future main-event player in New Japan Pro Wrestling. As of publish time, Kidd has been the reigning NJPW STRONG Openweight Champion for over 100 days, successfully defending the title against names like Ultimo Guerrero and Lio Rush.
While speaking to Fightful for a new interview, David Finlay bragged about his recruiting skills, stating that he was the first person to see potential in Kidd.
"I believe I was the first one to see the potential in Gabe Kidd. He was my first pick for being a War Dog, and that has been a great pick. That’s the kind of leader I am. When it comes to recruiting people and seeing untapped potential, I am the greatest at it. I mean, what a star player we have in Gabe. Plus he does literally anything I tell him if I'm like, ‘Yo, go whoop that dude's ass.’ Like, done. No questions asked. He loves it. But yeah, Gabe Kidd has been... What a pick by me. What a pick by me."
Elsewhere in the interview, Finlay stated that Mustafa Ali would not be a good fit for the Bullet Club War Dogs. Learn more about those comments here.
