Tom Lawlor: I See Myself Doing What Minoru Suzuki Is Doing In 15 Years

Tom Lawlor is trying to be just like Minoru Suzuki.

For years now, Minoru Suzuki has maintained his status as a wrestling legend by often competing in dream matches against wrestlers that he's never faced before. In 2024 alone, Suzuki faced stars like AKIRA, Jack Perry, Adam Copeland, and Royce Isaacs for the very first time.

A number of fans have applauded Suzuki's ability to get young stars over, especially at the age of 56 years old.

While speaking to Fightful Overbooked for a new interview, Tom Lawlor praised Suzuki and said that he wants to be like him in 15 years.

"If you go back and watch, it’s somehow the same dude. He hasn’t aged in five years, maybe because he’s so old already that your appearance doesn’t change as you get older. It’s the same hard hitting guy. The matches are very similar a lot of times. One thing that I do love about wrestling Minoru Suzuki is, I want to be him one day. I feel like when I wrestle him, I can take something back and I can use it. He’s 56. There’s a 15 year difference between us and I guess I’m insane enough to think in 15 years that I’ll still be wrestling. I feel like I have a mirror match with him now because I see myself doing what he’s doing in 15 years."

Elsewhere in the interview, Lawlor commented on the possibility of returning to MLW. Check out his full comments by clicking here.

MLW Superfight 6 will take place in Atlanta, Georgia on Saturday, February 6. The show will stream live on YouTube at 9 p.m. EST.
