Gigi Rey talks about her experience in the AEW locker room and her appearances on AEW Dark.
Gigi Rey is reflecting on her experience wrestling on AEW Dark and working with legends like Dustin Rhodes.
Gigi Rey has wrestled for promotions such as New Texas Pro, GCWA, Booker T's Reality of Wrestling, and more. Rey had also wrestled a handful of bouts in All Elite Wrestling, including on April 15, 2022, when she wrestled Toni Storm on AEW Dark.
Speaking with Spencer Love of Love Wrestling, Rey detailed her AEW experience and spoke about working with Dustin Rhodes.
"Being at AEW, there are definitely people there that they encourage you to go and talk to. You'll always have an agent who's going to kind of oversee your match. I've been so fortunate because I think every match that I've had there, maybe except the last one, my agent was Dustin Rhodes. Amazing," said Rey.
"So amazing. [When] you would tell him ideas for the match, he was like, 'Oh, well, how about you try this? What about this?' Of course, you're not gonna say no, because he obviously knows what he's talking about," she continued. "Even after the match, to kind of get feedback from him was really amazing. I'm so thankful for the opportunities that AEW has been able to give to independent wrestlers and be able to make those connections with people. It's been really great anytime I've been there. I have nothing but good things to say about AEW.”
Reflecting on her favorite AEW match, Rey singled out her match with Toni Storm but also named her tag match alongside Lady Bird Monroe against Emi Sakura & The Bunny, her most recent match as of this writing, as a memorable bout.
“Being in a singles match against Toni Storm, like, you can't ask for anything more than that, right?! So, that was probably my favorite, most memorable moment [or] matches at AEW," said Rey. "Obviously, the ones being able to tag with like Lady Bird in them is also very special, too. Like you said, we're both very sentimental people. To be able to do that with someone who's your best friend is a really, really cool experience. I don't think a lot of people are able to say stuff like that, you know, that they got to tag with their best friend in front of like a huge crowd in Texas. Lady Bird, she's from Dallas, and the matches that we had were both in the Dallas area. It's such a cool experience. But then, to be able to have a singles match against Toni Storm was just really, really amazing.”
