Grayson Waller ran Johnny Gargano out of NXT in December 2021 when he attacked him after Gargano was giving his farewell promo to the brand.
Gargano stepped away to take a break from wrestling and be with his family, but returned to WWE in August 2022. Gargano would return to NXT in March 2023, setting up an Unsanctioned bout against Waller at NXT Stand & Deliver.
Gargano was victorious in the bout, but Waller would love another crack at Johnny Wrestling.
"That hurt, man. That sucked. When you go into an Unsanctioned Match, those matches are not fun. I didn’t sleep that night, I didn’t sleep on the plane home. As [many] horrible things as I said about Johnny Gargano, that guy is legit. That guy is the man in a lot of ways. He made me pay for a lot of the things I said, and I can’t wait to make him regret those decisions day. I really hope that’s a match that happens on the main roster one day. I think me and Gargano have unfinished business. I think we need to do it in front of a bigger audience," Waller said on WWE Die Woche.
Waller is currently on WWE SmackDown while Gargano is part of WWE Raw.
Waller competed in the Slim Jim Battle Royal at WWE SummerSlam.
