Hiroshi Tanahashi Announces He's Renewed His Contract With NJPW

Hiroshi Tanahashi will remain with NJPW.

Tanahashi took to social media to announce he has renewed his contract with New Japan Pro-Wrestling. He wrote on Twitter, "I have renewed my contract with New Japan Pro Wrestling. I'll do my best."

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Tanahashi is the reigning IWGP United States Champion, regaining the belt in a No DQ match against KENTA at night two of Wrestle Kingdom 16.

Tanahashi made his debut in NJPW in 1999, rising up the ranks to become The Ace of the company, reaching legendary status along the way. He is a former eight-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion.

NJPW will celebrate its 50th Anniversary this year with Tanahashi set to take part in the Golden Series tour leading up to the 50th Anniversary Show. He will defend his IWGP US Title against SANADA on February 19.

The NJPW 50th Anniversary Show will be held on March 1 will the New Japan Cup beginning on March 2.
