KENTA and Punk have a long-standing rivalry over Punk using the Go 2 Sleep as his finisher. KENTA has called him out on multiple occasions.
Punk hasn't wrestled since AEW All Out 2022 when he defeated Jon Moxley for the AEW Title. He suffered a torn triceps in the bout and was suspended by AEW for his role in a post-event altercation with The Elite (Kenny Omega & The Young Bucks).
