1/3rd of the New Day is amped up to be on the "Road To WrestleMania".
12-year veteran in the wrestling game, Kofi Kingston, recently spoke with The Fan Sports Radio 1340 to discuss WWE's 'Road To WrestleMania' Live event that is happening today in Lubbock, Texas. Kingston discussed how the "Bludgeon Brothers" (Harper & Rowan) interact wth the rest of roster backstage, the Fatal 4-Way tag-team match that will be happening at the live event and more.
Kingston has had a great run with the WWE and has not let his foot off of the gas yet.
“So I just approached my 10th year on television. I think its my…. Like 12th or 13th year overall, but its crazy because it feels like it just yesterday where I was on the independents, a kid with a dream, just following a dream." Kingston added. "You know, I had graduated from college, I was working in the corporate world, decided to actually follow my dream and I didn’t know if it was gonna work out. Sure am glad that I tried, because here we are.
At the 'Road To WrestleMania' live event, The Usos will defend the SmackDown Live Tag-Team Championships in a Fatal 4-Way against: The New Day, The Bludgeon Brothers & Shelton Benjamin/Chad Gable. Kofi would go on to describe what each team brings to the match and even revealed which team is the "x-factor" in the contest.
"Its gonna be a great match and the x-factor in the match; you have us and we’re all about fun, you know. We have a good time and make sure the crowd has a good time with our Booty O’s and make sure everyone’s fed, we give them the pancakes, we shake our hips, we bring the unicorn horns and then we have The Usos, who like having fun too, but they are laid back, they're cool, you know what I mean and then you have Shelton and Chad, who are the opposite of us; they hate fun, they're weird, you know. They're really weird and I've never met people who actually really hate fun. These guys don’t like fun at all." Kofi would continue. "But, the x-factor in the match is the Bludgeon Brothers man, and these guys are; they look like their on a mission. I haven’t had match with them yet. This will actually be the first match that The New Day has had with the Bludgeon Brothers. I feel like this is gonna be something you're gonna definitely want to see, because these guys, they don’t mess around. Its gonna be a good match, we have a lot of great teams in there."
The former 4-time WWE Intercontinental Champion would go on to speak about the repackaged Rowan and Harper. Kofi states that Harper & Rowan are exactly who they on-screen, backstage.
"When you see them out there, its like, people go back behind through the curtain and its like 'Aww, you're done playing your “character” and you're going back to your everyday life’. Not the Bludgeon Brothers, not so much. These guys, they're not nice. You know a lot of us play video games in the back and these guys kinda do their own thing. So, it is what is what it is. Like I said, I’m gonna be really interested to see kinda what they have to bring to the table."
Kofi Kingston knows very well what it means to compete at WrestleMania as he has seemingly been a part of the show in some fashion since his debut. WrestleMania 34 will be taking over New Orleans once again and Kofi is excited to give the Lubbock crowd a taste of what is to come at the "Grandest Stage Of Them All".
"Absolutely, WrestleMania is the greatest time of the year for us and its like, right now, is what we call the ‘Road to WresteMania’ so when we come, you’ll love it. That’s what you're going to be experiencing is that Road to WrestleMania. WrestleMania for us is the biggest show of the year; we build to every single year. People come from all corners of the world to come to WrestleMania and its become so much more than just the actual show. It’s a whole week of festivities you know? Its Axess, when you can go and get signatures and autographs and pictures and other fun things."
The former seven-time WWE Tag-Team Champion would then go on to put over his fellow SmackDown Live wrestlers who will also be competing at the live event tonight. Kofi looks to once again make another WrestleMania moment as he, along with every other WWE star are looking to claim their spot in New Orleans.
