Kofi Kingston Says An Erick Rowan Chair Shot During 2019 Gauntlet Match Was The Most Pain He's Ever Felt In WWE

Kofi Kingston reflects on Erick Rowan hitting him with a sick chair shot during a Gauntlet Match on a 2019 episode of WWE SmackDown.

En route to WrestleMania 35 and his legendary WWE Championship victory over Daniel Bryan, Kofi Kingston was made to jump through many hoops. One of those hoops was a Gauntlet Match on the March 19 episode of WWE SmackDown. The third stage in that Gauntlet Match involved Erick Rowan, Daniel Bryan's heater at the time, decimating Kingston before giving him a victory by disqualification when he hit him in the back with a chair.

During a recent interview with DraftKings, Kingston revealed that chair shot was the most pain he had ever felt during a WWE match.

"I got hit in the back with a chair by Erick Rowan. I was in the middle of a Gauntlet Match, not even halfway through. He slapped me in the back with that chair so hard. That was the most pain that I've felt in a ring. I couldn't believe how hard he hit me with that chair. I thought like, 'Hey, maybe this might be the time that it's okay to cry. Maybe I should give these people a moment and humanize myself and let them see me cry.' Then, I looked around, and I said, 'Nah, let me just go ahead and win this Gauntlet Match.' I didn't win, but I didn't cry."

Erick Rowan is back on the WWE roster as part of the Wyatt Sicks. He will return to squared circle competition on the August 5 episode of WWE Raw. Learn more about that here.

The bad news for Kofi is that he is also on the Monday Night Raw roster. However, he's currently sidelined with an injury and mostly focused on his rivalry with Karrion Kross. Learn more about their latest war of words here.
