Kurt Angle On Potentially Appearing For AEW: I Don't Think It's Gonna Happen, I'm Happy Where I Am

Kurt Angle says an AEW run for "Your Olympic Hero" isn't in the cards.

Kurt Angle has not wrestled since WrestleMania 35 where he lost to Baron Corbin. A veteran of WWE and TNA Wrestling, Kurt Angle was once widely considered to be the greatest in-ring performer of his generation. One individual that is a fan of Kurt Angle's body of work is AEW president Tony Khan.

On the most recent episode of The Kurt Angle Show, the 2017 WWE Hall of Famer was asked whether or not he would ever appear on television for All Elite Wrestling. Angle said that while Tony Khan is a nice guy, he's very happy where he is as a member of the WWE family and as he does sporadic appearances on WWE television as part of his legends contract, he doesn't foresee himself ever appearing on AEW TV.

"Honestly, I talked to Tony a couple of times. I dabbled and threw some numbers at him that were astronomical, just to see if he would bite. Tony's a good guy. He was a big fan of mine. He was the one he told me that he wanted in his company because he thought I was one of his favorite wrestlers. I guess he was a wrestling fan growing up. So I was considering it," Angle explained. "Now, I have such a solid relationship with the WWE., I have a nostalgic contract with them. I do a lot of programming on TV with WWE. So I don't think it's going to happen, unfortunately. I'm happy where I am at in WWE. I look back and I know I left the WWE in 2006 and came back in 2017. I don't regret that because I had a great career in TNA, but a little small part of me says 'I wish I would have stayed.' I can't imagine what my career would have been like if I would have continued on for another 11 years in the WWE. So, you know, I'm just happy to be where I am."

As for whether or not he would ever return to the ring in general, Kurt Angle said, on this very same podcast, that he believes his old TNA Wrestling rival, AJ Styles, would be able to get a good WrestleMania match out of him if he ever came back for one more match. Learn more here.
