Marti Belle aims to regain the NWA World Women's Tag Team Championship.
Belle and Allysin Kay, collectively known as The Hex, won the gold tles at NWA EmPowerrr 2021, where the NWA brought the titles back. Both women had previously worked with the NWA, but they left the company in 2020.
During an appearance on the House of Hardcore Podcast with Tommy Dreamer, Belle discussed their return to the NWA and noted that company president Billy Corgan personally picked her and Kay to win the titles at NWA EmPowerrr because wanted them to elevate the tag team titles.
“NWA calls us, and they want us to come back. Both her and I had left during the pandemic because we had no idea when shows were gonna be running again. So we left NWA, we left on very good terms. Billy literally told me, ‘The door’s always open for you whenever you wanna come back.’ So EmPowerrr rolls around. EmPowerrr was August 28, 2021, and we’re told that the titles are being brought back and Billy has specifically hand-selected Allysin and I for the titles because he wanted us to legitimize them. He knew how hard we’re gonna work to make sure that those titles meant something again. So it was our fourth and fifth match ever as a tag team, and we won the NWA tag titles," Belle said.
She continued by describing how, despite their impressive chemistry together, she has only been teaming up with Kay for almost two years. Still, they held the NWA titles for 288 days and defended them around the world.
"But I think a lot of people, because we’re always together and because we work so well together, people assume that we’ve been tagging for years. We have literally been tagging for less than two years as of now. But we held the titles for 288 days, but who’s counting? Somebody actually told us that, so we make sure to include it in every single promo. So yeah, we had so much fun with them. We made them world titles, we took them to the UK. We won the Pro-Wrestling: EVE championships, so we were holding both titles at the same time. We got to defend them in the UK. We were going to defend them in Portugal, and travel issues didn’t allow us to get to Portugal, but that is definitely still on our bucket list of getting back out there," she said.
Moving forward, Belle stated that the duo hope to win back the gold so they can keep taking the titles around the globe.
"We have a pay-per-view coming up, NWA 74’s coming up on the 28th, and we don’t know what’s next for us. We know we’re gonna be in action that weekend, and of course, we want a rematch. We wanna get those titles back because we still have so many other cool places to take them to. I have pictures of me and Allysin in Paris, in front of the Eiffel Tower and in front of Big Ben, with the titles. There are so many more monuments that we still need to hit with the titles, so that is the plan," Belle said.
