Matt Cardona memorably defeated Nick Gage in a Death Match to win the GCW World Championship at GCW Homecoming 2021. Following the win, he called himself The Deathmatch King. From there, he became the Indy God, as he embarked on a successful run throughout the independent scene.
Cardona has wrestled all over the world and held titles with various promotions, including NWA and TNA. He has also brought Steph De Lander to GCW, and he beat Jimmy Lloyd in a match where Lloyd would have to become his Broski for a month.
Update: GCW owner Brett Lauderdale responded to the news and wrote that GCW had reached a multi-year deal with Cardona that would ensure that the celebrated GCW Superstar would continue to provide the best in sports entertainment for the GCW Universe.
