Matt Hardy: Leon Slater Is Someone That Jeff Hardy And I Would Like To Help And Teach

Matt Hardy comments on he and Jeff Hardy mentoring Leon Slater.

In recent weeks on TNA Wrestling, Leon Slater has been teaming with The Hardys. While this is far from the first time Matt is mentoring a younger wrestler, Matt believes that this time, Jeff may have a more vested interest in the performer they are mentoring as the "Charismatic Enigma" was Slater's favorite wrestler growing up.

Matt Hardy spoke about the relationship during an interview with Bill Pritchard of WrestleZone.

"I do, and I think Jeff does as well, because Jeff has an even more vested interest in Leon. Jeff was Leon's favorite wrestler growing up, right? His whole Swanton 450 that he does is kind of like an homage to Jeff. Leon is a great guy. He's 20 years old. He's crazy athletic, and he gets it. He gets the idea of how you need to be physical, and there needs to be aggression in what you're doing for there to be a level of believability in it that you need. That's something that Michael Hayes instilled in both of us. Yes, I do think Leon is someone that we would like to help and teach, and do all that we can to give him all of the later-in-wrestling lessons that we can to help him progress his movement. He's a great guy on top all this."

Jeff Hardy also remarked that they are like a 2025 version of Team Xtreme, swapping Lita for Leon.

Elsewhere in the interview, Jeff Hardy clarified recent comments he made about wanting to retire CM Punk. Read more here.
