Molly Holly passed Victoria a move that would earn Victoria many of titles in the sport of professional wrestling.
Former 5-time TNA Knockouts Champion Lisa Marie Varon or better known by wrestling fans as "Victoria" from her days in WWE announced last month that 2019 will be her last year as an in-ring performer. After coming up on what will be 19 years in the business, Victoria is still competing on the independent scene, doing meet and greets and she alongside former two-time WWE Women's Champion Molly Holly recently sat down with DS Shin for an edition of 'Ring The Belle'.
During the conversation Molly Holly told the story of the first time she came across the "Widow's Peak" finishing maneuver. Molly says that she was wrestling former two-time NXT Tag Team Champion Roderick Strong in the backyard of a trailer park in Florida when they were both in their teens. When Molly Holly made it to WWE and became close with Victoria, she showed Victoria the move and here's how the rest of the story unfolded according to the former WWE Womens Champions.
Victoria: “I think I want you to tell the story about how I got this. It’s because of Molly Holly, [that] I had an amazing finisher.” She said.
Molly Holly: “I used to watch indie tapes to steal moves from people.” Molly laughed. “Sorry. So I stole it from Roderick Strong who I used to wrestle in the backyard of a trailer park in Florida. He was 14, I was 18 or so. He was 14-years old when we first met. Anyway, he had a really cool move, and so Victoria was looking for a new finisher and I showed it to her and when I showed it to her in the ring, Vince McMahon was ringside talking to some people… he saw her practice it on me and Vince McMahon went, ‘Ohhhh, ohhhh’, and I thought, ‘If we can get Vince to react that way, then we know it’s a good one’.”
Victoria: “Stacy Keibler was the first one to take it besides you [Molly Holly] teaching me and I remember Roderick Strong. One of our house shows, and he was in the lobby and he goes, ‘Victoria’ and I’m like, ‘Hey buddy.’ There’s a lot of fans waiting in the lobby, and he goes, ‘I’m the one that came up with your finisher’ and I go, ‘Are you Roderick Strong!?’ And he goes, ‘Yeah’, and I go, ‘Oh my God. You have put me on the map. Honestly, thank you so much’, and he was a kid. It was so amazing. Thank you Nora [Molly Holly].”
