One of the most notorious ECW Originals has passed away.
Per a report by Mike Johnson of PWInsider, Jerome Young, known inside wrestling as New Jack passed away today in North Carolina following a heart attack. He was 58 years old.
New Jack is best known for his time as one of the Gangstas alongside Mustafa Saed. The team got their first major break in North America working for Smoky Mountain wrestling where they would Feud with the Rock N’ Roll Express and even have the opportunity to wrestle The Undertaker on one of The Undertaker's rare appearances outside of WWE.
The team, and New Jack himself, is most closely associated with Extreme Championship Wrestling where he became a top star for the company. His entrance theme, Natural Born Killaz by Ice Cube was often an electric moment in the original ECW. Much like The Sandman coming out to Metallica.
With rivalries against teams such as The Dudley Boyz and The Eliminators, New Jack and Mustafa captured the ECW Tag Team Championship on two occasions. Young’s life and career were chronicled during the second season of Dark Side of the Ring.
