Nikki Bella Knows Breaking Up With John Cena Is The "Best Thing" For Her

The Cena-Bella romance chronicle may be finally over. 

At WrestleMania 33, John Cena proposed to Nikki Bella following their victory over the Miz and Maryse in a mixed tag team match. About a year later just after WrestleMania 34, the engagement was called off

Over the next few months, a few things happened: The premiere of the latest season of Total Bellas which centered around the breakup, The two wrestlers were talking about their love life on talks shows regarding working things out, and the couple was spotted together which fueled rumors they would reunite. 

On May 21st, People.com reported that Cena and Nikki Bella were "basically back together" but yesterday People published a quote from Nikki Bella saying the relationship is officially done. 

“After much time and soul-searching alone and together, we have decided to officially part ways,” said Bella “I had a beautiful and loving 6-year relationship with a wonderful man. I have the utmost respect for John, but I know this is what’s best for me,” she added. 

In the interview, Nikki Bella said she and Cena gave their relationship an earnest try despite the engagement being called off.  

On Sunday, the season finale of Total Bellas aired.
