NJPW News: Kota Ibushi Returning For NJ Cup; Roppongi 3K And Jushin Liger Named Next Title Contenders

The Golden Star isn't going anywhere.

Kota Ibushi surprised many at today's The New Beginning in Osaka event, showing up unannounced to a big reception from the Osaka crowd. Ibushi thanked fans for supporting him during his time off following Wrestle Kingdom 13. Ibushi assured fans that he would not be leaving NJPW and announced that he would return to be part of the New Japan Cup. Ibushi suffered a concussion during his Wrestle Kingdom 13 bout against Will Ospreay and was stretched out of the arena as a result. The concussion kept him off The New Beginning Tour.

In other NJPW News, Roppongi 3K made their intentions clear at The New Beginning in Osaka: they are coming after the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Titles once again. The duo of SHO and YOH attacked the current champions, Shingo Takagi and BUSHI following their six-man bout against Suzuki-gun. SHO and YOH grabbed the IWGP Junior Heavyweight straps, declaring that they would be the next challengers for the titles. BUSHI and Takagi agreed to the bout at a later date.

Finally, Jushin "Thunder" Liger accepted the challenge of Taiji Ishimori for the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Title. Ishimori had just defeated Ryusuke Taguchi when he decided to call out the legendary Liger, who was at the commentary table. Never one to back down, Liger gladly accepted Ishimori's challenge, setting up future title bout between the champion and legend.
