The match is on.
Joey Janela previously announced that he would face Sabu at Joey Janela's Spring Break 9 on April 18th. However, after he underwent surgery due to a ruptured bicep on February 17th, the status of the match was in doubt, and Janela admitted that it was unlikely.
Janela came to the ring at GCW The Coldest Winter 3 to present Sabu with his Indie Wrestling Hall of Fame plaque. Janela's arm was in a sling, and he thanked the fans for their support. He noted that he was supposed to face Sabu at Joey Janela's Spring Break 9, but because of his injury, that was no longer the case. Janela apologized, and he was there to give Sabu his plaque, but the legend was nowhere to be found.
Janela said that Sabu was no longer in town, and he stated that everybody kept giving Sabu a chance, even though he didn't love them the way that they did. He went on to say that the Sabu who changed the business forever was dead. He told the fans he loved them before Sabu showed up. Sabu attacked Janela and jabbed him with a spike multiple times, bloodying him in the process. Sabu continued to attack Janela, and he hit him with the plaque. Sabu targeted Janela's injured arm. Officials eventually separated them.
Janela then grabbed a microphone, and he told Sabu he'd see him at Spring Break.
