Tony Schiavone Reveals The Moment When He Knew That WCW Couldn't Be Fixed

Tony Schiavone believes that WCW was screwed long before David Arquette won the world title.

The slow decline/death of WCW has been a popular topic of conversation for decades at this point, but in 2024, the question has been amplified with the release of VICE's 'Who Killed WCW?' series.

If you ask Tony Schiavone, there was one match that signified that WCW had no chance of being fixed -- Sting vs. Hollywood Hulk Hogan at Starrcade in 1997.

“Yeah, I think it’s the Sting/Hogan match." Schiavone said on the latest edition of What Happened When when asked if there was one moment/match where he knew WCW couldn't be fixed. "I think I thought that if Hogan was able to change around the finish from what we knew was right, then we had no chance. By the time David Arquette won the world title, we were beyond being fixed. I think it’s Sting not winning the world title cleanly over Hogan. If you go back and watch it, it is a fucked up thing man.”
