Will Ospreay says Aussie Open (Kyle Davis and Mark Fletcher) is the best team in the business today.
Davis and Fletcher have held the tag team titles in several companies, including Revolution Pro and PROGRESS. They joined Ospreay's United Empire stable in September 2021, and they have been increasingly featured in the spotlight ever since. The duo competed on AEW programming alongside Ospreay on the road to AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door. This past summer, Aussie Open became the inaugural NJPW STRONG Openweight Tag Team Champions. Later, at NJPW Royal Quest II, they facd FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler) in an instant classic.
During an appearance on The Commentary Booth, Ospreay spoke highly of Davis and Fletcher. He called them the best team in the game right now. He noted that the duo has dealt with some obstacles, so it's rewarding to see them thrive now.
"For me, I’ve known for years that Aussie Open are literally the best tag team going right now. I knew they were the best when myself and Paul Robinson faced them in PROGRESS in that Ladder Match, which is still to this day the longest match that that company’s ever done and probably the best match that company has ever done. I’ve always known that they’re good, and like Davis had his injury, and then there was a pandemic, but it’s finally super gratifying for me now knowing that they are going to be heading over to Japan in two weeks, I think it is, three weeks, because they’ve been living with me over in England. We’ve been taking over RevPro, and now they have the United States visas to go over and do New Japan STRONG, and they’ve captured those tag titles. So for me, it is just super good because I’ve seen them at their lowest, I’ve seen them at their highest. It’s so good to see them now finally about to come over to Japan," Ospreay said.
Aussie Open will defend the NJPW STRONG Openweight Tag Team Championship at NJPW Rumble on 44th Street. More information is available here. The duo will also compete at the Battle Autumn event in Japan on November 5. Click here to see the card for the show.
