Alex Munoz has suffered an undisclosed injury and has been pulled from next weeks UFC Fight Night Norfolk card, where he was scheduled to face Luis Pena.
MMA Junkie first reported the news, but the nature of Munoz’s injury or how long the fighter is going to be out of action for isn’t known at this time. Pena is expected to remain on the card at this time, as UFC officials are seeking a replacement opponent for him to fight.
Pena (7-2-0) has won three of five under the UFC banner, with those wins coming over Richie Smullen, Steven Peterson and Matt Wiman. Pena has competed five times in the UFC thus far and four of them have gone into the third round. Pena also competed on the UFC Ultimate Fighter 27, but was pulled from a semi-final round bout due to injury.
UFC Fight Night Norfolk takes place on Saturday, February 29 from the Chartway Arena in Norfolk, Virginia with Joseph Benavidez and Deiveson Figueiredo headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+.
