A lightweight division attraction has been added to UFC 226 according to Stuff (New Zealand) as Dan Hooker is going to be in action against Gilbert Burns.
Hooker (16-7-0) enters the contest while riding a three fight winning streak, last defeating Jim Miller by knockout at UFC Fight Night Atlantic City. Hooker hasn’t suffered a defeat in well over a year, with that last loss coming to Jason Knight at UFC Fight Night 101. Hooker has competed on two UFC pay-per-view cards in the past, defeating Marc Diakiese at UFC 219 and losing to Yair Rodriguez at UFC 192.
Burns (13-2-0) comes into this bout while riding a two fight winning streak, defeating the duo of Jason Saggo and Dan Moret. Burns is back on a UFC pay-per-view card for the first time in almost four years, with his last such appearance being a first round submission win over Christos Giagos at UFC 179. Burns has suffered just two defeats as a professional MMA fighter and both of those losses came by way of decision.
UFC 226 takes place on Saturday, July 7 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
