A women’s strawweight division attraction has been added to UFC Fight Night Auckland as #14 Karolina Kowalkiewicz faces Yan Xiaonan.
MMA Junkie reported the bout, but its placement on the card isn’t known at this time.
Kowalkiewicz (12-5-0) enters the contest while in the midst of a three fight losing streak, dropping bouts to Jessica Andrade, Michelle Waterson and Alexa Grasso. Kowalkiewicz hasn’t picked up a victory in over a year, with that last win coming over Felice Herrig at UFC 223. Kowalkiewicz has previously challenged for the UFC Women’s Strawweight Title, losing to then champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk at UFC 205.
Xiaonan (11-1-0-1NC) is undefeated thus far under the UFC banner, defeating the four pack of Kailin Curran, Viviane Pereira, Syuri Kondo and Angela Hill. Xiaonan hasn’t suffered a defeat in over nine years, with that last loss coming to Karina Hallinan at Martial Combat 10. Xiaonan has picked up eleven wins as a professional MMA fighter and six of them came by way of decision.
UFC Fight Night Auckland takes place on Saturday, February 22 from the Spark Arena in Auckland, New Zealand with Paul Felder and Dan Hooker headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+.
