On the June 6 episode of WWE NXT, Breakker cut a promo in which he challenged WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins to a match. Speaking with Justin Barrasso of Sports Ilustrated, Breakker recalled the promo and noted that he didn't have a lot of time to prepare for it.

“It was down to the last second. That only added to the excitement," Breakker said.

Breakker also previewed his match against Rollins, as he noted that it's his biggest opportunity yet. He stated that Rollins has proven himself, but he hasn't faced someone as hungry as the former NXT Champion.

“This is my biggest opportunity in sports. Seth Rollins is outstanding. He’s proven that for over 10 years. But I just don’t think he’s ever faced anyone who is as hungry as I am right now," Breakker said.

Ahead of the match, Breakker emphasized that he is more focused than ever, and he's excited for the bout. He also highlighted his heel turn and described how he is having the time of his life, as this version of his character is better for him.

“I knew how I wanted to be presented. I looked at the landscape in NXT, and I brainstormed and wrote down ideas about ways to be different. All around, what I’m doing now is better for me. It’s a new challenge, and I’m having the time of my life," Breakker said.
