Brooks Jensen Begged To Go To NXT UK, Says The Brand Will Be Appreciated Years From Now

Brooks Jensen was excited to wrestle in NXT UK.

In June 2022, shortly after his debut in NXT 2.0, Brooks Jensen and his tag partner, Josh Briggs, debuted in NXT UK. In their first match on the brand, Briggs and Jensen captured the NXT UK Tag Team Championships.

The duo would hold the titles until September 2022, where the belts were unified with the NXT Tag Team Championships.

While speaking to Scoop Slammed for a recent interview, Jensen talked about how he really wanted to work for the brand and how he believes it will be appreciated in five to ten years.

"It was right after I came off a hand injury. I just got cleared and we had been begging them to go over to the UK. Five to ten years from now, when you watch NXT UK, it’s going to be one of those, ‘We should have appreciated it while we had it.’ The talent that came from there was insane. Tyler Bate, Butch, Gunther, Gallus, Pretty Deadly, Imperium. Once I came off the injury, we got the green light that we were going to go to NXT UK, be there for a couple of weeks, get to train in their facility, which I was looking forward to the most because I really respect the British style of wrestling. The tag champs at the time, Ashton Smith and Oliver Carter, they were holding the belts, and Ashton Smith got hurt. I think it was Shawn Michaels’ idea to put the tag belts on us and bring them over here and do something with them, give it some recognition, to go back over there and defend them. Of course, as we all know, that didn’t happen. Worlds Collide came at the time and it was the perfect time to unify those tag titles."

The last update on NXT Europe came back in July, when Triple H noted that the birth of the brand was slowed down by the WWE/UFC merger. Fans can learn more here.

Elsewhere in the interview, Brooks Jensen said that the sky is the limit for Gable Steveson.
