Ace Steel is reportedly back in AEW.
According to Nick Hausman of Haus of Wrestling, Ace Steel was re-hired by AEW "several months ago." He has not been working actively working backstage.
The report states that Steel was told he would be working with Tony Khan on creative, but would not be present backstage as to not upset talent, and would instead would work remotely.
There was reportedly an understanding that once AEW Collision debuted and CM Punk returned, Steel would be back on the road. On Tuesday, it was reportedly decided that Steel would not be back on the road, which reportedly led to a miscommunication between lawyers, and Punk being pulled from the AEW Collision announcement on Wednesday.
Punk was not listed in the promotional material for AEW Collision, but a cached version of the press release online originally listed CM Punk as one of the headliners. Warner Bros Discovery put out a statement saying, "CM Punk is not affiliated with TNT's AEW Collision."
Steel was fired by AEW following AEW All Out 2022 and his role in the altercation between Punk and The Elite (Kenny Omega, Matt Jackson, & Nick Jackson) where he reportedly threw a chair and bit Omega.
Punk's return to AEW television has not been announced.
