Tony Khan comments on speculation that Shane McMahon would wind up in AEW.
AEW is very fond of opening The Forbidden Door and welcomes anyone willing to walk through the door in AEW. The most recent episode of Dynamite was a great example of the best as Jay White, Keith Lee, and A.Q.A all walked through the door, with two of them even signing contracts with the company.
One name that was spoken about as potentially being a Forbidden Door entry was Shane McMahon. Shane McMahon was reportedly let go by WWE following the Royal Rumble event this year and as unthinkable as it would be, there were some speculated that Shane McMahon could walk through the Forbidden Door.
Meeting with Sports Illustrated, Tony Khan spoke about this possibility. Tony, to no surprise, has not heard from Shane McMahon but would welcome the conversation if it ever came.
“I’d certainly take the call,” Khan says. “I’m sure he’d be an interesting person to talk to about wrestling. I’m not sure exactly if he would be a fit. I have not heard from him, and I don’t expect to hear from him, but in this business, you never know.”
As far as the actual surprises, Tony Khan says he had been dreaming about Keith Lee’s debut for months.
“Keith’s debut was incredible,” Khan says. “Much to my amazement, Keith got released. As soon as I saw that he was released, this was the moment I dreamed about.”
As for Jay White, Tony says you can expect to see more of him in the future.
“Expect to see more Jay White in AEW,” Khan says. “He came through the ‘Forbidden Door’, and there were many reasons his arrival transpired the way it did on Dynamite. That wasn’t finalized until Sunday, and I’m so happy that we could bring that excitement to the fans.”
