MMA action was on the light side this past weekend, with the only major event coming in the form of Bellator 201.
The four fight main card aired live on the Paramount Network, bringing in a total of 466,000 viewers.
Bellator MMA Women’s Flyweight Champion Ilima-Lei Macfarlane headlined the card, earning a third round submission win over Alejandra Lara. The bout marked the first title defense for Macfarlane, who won the gold with a submission win over Emily Ducote at Bellator 186.
Other notable fighters who competed on the card included UFC veterans Valerie Letourneau, Ryan Couture and Robbie Peralta, plus Bellator mainstays Saad Awad, Kristina Williams and Juan Archuleta were also in action.
While the UFC airs some of their preliminary card fights on live TV, it is a move Bellator MMA doesn’t make and their prelim fights air live on Bellator.com. No preliminary card streaming numbers have been released by Bellator, with such fighters as Keri Melendez, Joey Davis, Ed Ruth and Tyrell Fortune taking part in the festivities.
Up next for Bellator MMA is Bellator 202 on Friday, July 13, with women’s featherweight champion Julia Budd defending the gold against Talita Nogueira in the main event. A four fight main card is going to air live on the Paramount Network.
